Papua New Guinea Sigri Estate A (Aug - Sep 2021)
Regular price $17.00Though coffee was introduced to Papau New Guinea ("PNG") in the 1890s, coffee production only picked up in the 1950s where infrastructure developments to facilitate the movement of coffee helped the industry enjoy a structured growth.
Today, most of the coffee producers in PNG are smallholders, with several large estates still operating very successfully. Most of the coffee in PNG is produced in the highland regions, either in the Eastern Highlands, or the Western Highlands. The highland regions of the country provides the ideal climate and terrain for coffee to develop beautifully, bringing out complex notes and great sweetness.
Our coffee this month comes from the Sigri Estate, located in the Waghi Valleys in the Western Highlands. This estate has the reputation of producing one of the finest Arabica coffee in the country.
We taste dark chocolate & caramel notes, with a medium-full body, balanced with some soft fruit acidity to make this a really sweet cup.
As our #dYScover beans are roasted specially, and separately from the rest of our offerings, we only have limited quantities per month! If you have ever thought or wondered about specialty coffee from Papau New Guinea, do make sure you give this a try soon!
There are so many different types of coffee grown in various regions of the world, with each region tasting very distinct from one another.
#dYScover, by Yong Seng Coffee, is our attempt at letting you experience high quality/specialty coffee from the various coffee-producing regions of the world. Read more about specialty coffee here!
Join us on this journey as we bring in coffee from different regions every month, as we explore the world of coffee together.
