Ethiopia Sidamo (January 2021)
Regular price $16.00Considered by many as the birthplace of coffee, the coffee from Ethiopia is well known for producing exceptional cups of coffee, with each region tasting different from one another. Some of the coffee growing regions in Ethiopia includes Harrar, Yirgacheffe, and Sidamo, as well as Limu and Jima.
The Sidamo region is one of three trademarked coffee regions in Ethiopia (the other two being Harrar and Yirgacheffe) and grows some of the highest coffee in Ethiopia. Coffee from this region is known for producing a fruity and intensely aromatic cup!
This month's coffee comes from the Sidamo region, and is part of an initiative known as "Operation Cherry Red", which encourages farmers to pick only the ripest red coffee cherries (in return for a higher price). This not only allows us to enjoy a better cup of coffee, it also allows the farmers to reinvest the additional margins into improving their own processes - resulting in even better coffee in the future!
Our Sidamo coffee presents a medium-bodied cup of coffee with floral aroma, notes of red berries and a caramel-like sweetness.
As our #dYScover beans are roasted specially, and separately from the rest of our offerings, we only have limited quantities per month! If you have ever thought or wondered about specialty coffee from Ethiopia, do make sure you give this a try soon!
There are so many different types of coffee grown in various regions of the world, with each region tasting very distinct from one another.
#dYScover, by Yong Seng Coffee, is our attempt at letting you experience specialty coffee from the various coffee-producing regions of the world. Read more about specialty coffee here!
Join us on this journey as we bring in coffee from different regions every month, as we explore the world of coffee together.
