Brazil Cerrado (June 2020)

Regular price $14.00

Continuing on our journey from Guatemala, we move further south to Brazil this month.  Brazil has been the world's largest producer of coffee for more than 150 years, and currently grows about one-third of the world's coffee! Being such a dominant supplier of coffee to the world means that anything that affects its coffee production would have a knock-on effect on the global pricing of coffee. An example would be the black frost of 1975, which reduced the crop yield in the following year by almost 75%! As a result, coffee prices increased by almost 2 - 300% wordwide during the mid 1970s.

The main coffee growing regions within Brazil are BahiaMinas GeraisSão PauloEspírito Santo and Paraná. Cerrado means "Tropical Savannah" (which can technically be used to refer to one of the many Savannah throughout Brazil), however, it usually refers to the west of Minas Gerais when it comes to coffee. Minas Gerais is located in the southeast of the country, and has some of the highest mountains in Brazil (providing good altitude for coffee).

Coffee from this region are well known for its sweetness, full body, as well as notes of caramel, nuts, and chocolate

As our #dYScover beans are roasted specially, and separately from the rest of our offerings, we only have limited quantities per month! If you have ever thought or wondered about specialty coffee from Brazil, do make sure you give this a try soon!

There are so many different types of coffee grown in various regions of the world, with each region tasting very distinct from one another.

#dYScover, by Yong Seng Coffee, is our attempt at letting you experience high quality/specialty coffee from the various coffee-producing regions of the world. Read more about specialty coffee here!

Join us on this journey as we bring in coffee from different regions every month, as we explore the world of coffee together.

A taste of heritage

and fresh perspectives

Yong Seng Coffee specialises in Singapore's favourite - traditional Nanyang coffee, a.k.a. kopi (meaning coffee in Malay). Being the lifeblood of many Singaporeans, we have served our many blends of traditional kopi for over 40 years, in addition to a selection of dry-roasted coffee of various origins.

Today, embodying heritage with every bag, we strive to keep our family's legacy and Singapore's kopi culture alive, while continuously working to expand and refine our offerings to cater to your ever-evolving preferences.

Tried the Arabica Blend and it changed my perspective of white coffee. Ditch your 3-in-1 and brew your own coffee with Yong Seng this CB period.

I ordered all the 6 choices (of Drip Bag Coffee) to try. Arrived yesterday and tried the Signature Blend #1 this morning. Clear indication of roasted & packing dates on each packet. Fresh and full of aroma, highly recommended. Tks!
