Colombia is one of the largest producers of coffee in the world, just behind Brazil & Vietnam. Not only does the country have optimal conditions for coffee cultivation, farmers in Colombia also have very good farm practices, largely due to efforts of the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros (FNC, an organisation that defends the interests of coffee producers in Colombia).
This month, we are featuring coffee from Finca El Paraiso in the Cauca region. Grown at an altitude of 1960masl, the coffee here undergoes a special processing method unique to the farm to achieve consistent flavour and cup profile. The anaerobic and long controlled fermentation combined with a special drying process allows Samuel, the farm owner, to produce this unique coffee.
We found notes of stonefruits, particularly ume plum, reminding us of umeshu. This very sweet cup of coffee is accompanied by berry notes and rose tea that makes it very elegant.
As our #dYScover beans are roasted specially, and separately from the rest of our offerings, we only have limited quantities per month! If you have ever thought or wondered about specialty coffee from Colombia, do make sure you give this a try soon!
There are so many different types of coffee grown in various regions of the world, with each region tasting very distinct from one another.
#dYScover, by Yong Seng Coffee, is our attempt at letting you experience high quality/specialty coffee from the various coffee-producing regions of the world. Read more about specialty coffee here!
Join us on this journey as we bring in coffee from different regions every month, as we explore the world of coffee together.
